Going to a spa center is so relaxing and very addicting. It’s a luxurious way to pamper yourself after a week of stressful living. Now, what if you can enjoy the same spa experience at home?
You don’t have to convert your place into a professional spa center. All you need is match the ambiance and the experience.
In this post, we will be suggesting you ways on how to make this happen.
Ways To Have An At-Home Spa Experience
1. Have Your Own Meditation Space
One the best things we love when getting a relaxing massage in our favorite spa center is the meditation that immediately follows.
With all muscle tensions released after a massage (that Swedish massage, though), my wife and I are always given a chance to stay in our room to meditate.
Meditating with ambient music, while your muscles are in a relaxed state is such an amazing experience.
Good thing is that we don’t have to go to our spa place if we want to do this. We suggest you do this as well.
All you need to do is setup a dedicated meditation space, with scented candles and ambient music and you’re ready to go. Ready to sit and stay still is more appropriate in this case.
If you can’t reserve a specific spot in your house, you can easily just turn any reasonable location into your own meditation space during your meditation time only.
If anything else, then the least you can do is dim the lights and find a place to sit comfortably for 15 minutes. Remember to breathe deeply and slowly.
2. Indulge In A Relaxing Bubble Bath
The classic way of unwinding remains as effective as it ever was. Soaking yourself in the bathtub is such a soothing experience.
Even the time spent in preparing your bathtub can induce a feeling of relief. As soon as you shut your bathroom door you know that all worries and stress are left behind outside the room.
Setting the tone can miraculously transform the room, so be sure you have your scented candles, bath oils and bath salts ready.
Lavender oils and scented candles have worked wonders in bringing me into a relaxed state. It is well known for inducing sleep that’s why it is best to do this before going to bed. You’d be amazed how restful your sleep will be.
Epsom salt works great as well. Just pour them in the tub while filling it up to effectively dissolve them.
To kick it up a notch, play some calming music on your phone. I would recommend that you set your phone in airplane mode even for just the duration of your session. That way, you’re pretty sure that no distractions from emails, phone calls or any other notifications will disturb you.
When you’re done, don’t forget to put out the candles.
3. Get Lost Listening To Calming Music
What if, for some reasons, you just don’t have a place or the time to set aside for your meditation spot? What if don’t feel like you bathtub is not clean enough to soak into? Or you haven’t heated up your inflatable spa yet?
There is still a way to enjoy a spa experience at home. Don’t be turned off by how simple it because it is just as effective.
Turn on your home theater, your stereo or radio and play some calming music. Even your phone will do.
Music is a very powerful medium. Whether you notice it or not, it directly affects our emotions. Consequently, our emotions heavily influence our choice of music.
Since your goal is to have some time to unwind and relieve yourself of stress, you should not play anything close to rock, EDM or pop. There’s a time for that. I usually play EDM before going to the club or pop while driving.
What you want is calming, instrumental music. Albums by Sean McVitty, A Journey Into Bliss and by James Wild, Music for Healing Massage are great choices. If you have no idea which is the best or don’t want to spend time trying to decide which to one to play, then just download some apps which stream spa music and you’re all set. You can also check YouTube.
Once you got the music going, just dim the lights and lie on your sofa or bed. My ideal way to do this is to sit on my recliner.
4. Treat Your Face Well
Our face is the first thing that shows how stressed we are. People who know you easily notice how haggard you are when your life is too hectic. This is the reason why it is important to treat it well on a regular basis.
There are many ways to give your face a spa treatment nowadays. We are even more fortunate that the market is full of products which allow us to do this at home.
Before anything else, you need to clean your face first with your favorite facial cleanser. You need to rid your face of all the sweat, grime, excess oils and dirt which accumulated throughout the day.
Make sure that the cleanser matches your skin, especially if your skin is sensitive.
You can also exfoliate if you haven’t done so in the last 7 days. You need to throw away the old to let in what is new. It’s about replacing dead skin cells with new.
What would be a facial spa without the steam? You need to open up your pores to release impurities and free your skin from toxins, which are largely the byproducts of stress.
In case you do not have a facial steamer, you can easily use the steam from a boiling water. Just don’t get it too close and be sure to keep your hair tied back. I usually put a few drops of lavender oil and rose petals. The aromatic fragrance makes it more authentic.
The best thing about this at-home facial is that it’s not only rejuvenating to your skin, it is inexpensive as well.
5. Pamper Yourself With A Massage
Who says you can’t do your own massage or have the same experience alone, at home?
Honestly, nothing really beats getting a massage treatment from a professional masseuse. Whether it’s as relaxing as a shiatsu or as intense as a Thai massage, it can be very addicting.
To most of us, going to a massage center is not practical. Whatever the reasons, either due to budget or time constraints, there is always a way to experience it at home.
If you have the money to shell out, getting your massage chair is the ideal method. It can be quite costly on the upfront, but you save a lot in the long run.
The convenience and comfort of getting a full body massage at home anytime are just priceless. You can get to relieve yourself from sore muscles as soon as you get home from a stressful day at work.
Some of these massage chairs can give you a shiatsu and some even kahuna massage. They are programmable and others even have heat.
If your budget is tight, you can always start off a back and shoulder massager. It may not be as holistic as massage chairs but it can still soothe your sore back and shoulder muscles.
Regardless of which massage tools you have, you can always create a more spa-like ambiance at home with a little spa music, scented candles, and dimmed lights.
6. Soothe Yourself In Your Own Spa
You don’t have to dim the lights to have a relaxing spa experience at home with this method. Actually, you can do it anytime the water is at an optimal temperature.
Setting up your own spa at home has never been as cheap as nowadays. You can get one for half the price of a massage chair especially those compact inflatable hot tubs recommended for couples.
They can heat up the water for up to 104F, have a bubble or massage jets installed. These hot tubs have built-in water treatment system to make sure you soak yourself in clean and refreshing water.
Imagine going home from a stressful day at work and taking a dip in the heated waters of your tub, then turning on the bubble or massage jets. It is such an ideal and comforting way to end the day.
Not all of these tubs are created equal, though. Fortunately, even the more premium inflatable saltwater hot tubs that we highly-suggest here at Laze Up cost a fraction of the actual price of a Jacuzzi.
Create Your Own Spa Experience At Home
There are so many ways to de-stress at home like you just walked into a spa and massage center, and we have narrowed down the most rewarding ways into 6.
You can definitely mix and match the 6 methods we discussed above. Wearing a facial mask while relaxing in your tub is one way, as well as meditating after spending some time on your massage chair.
Live a more relaxed and fulfilling life by enjoying the same spa experience at home. You can even call your friends to join in if you have something like a 6 person inflatable hot tub.
